PLEASE NOTE: Coliform samples must be delivered to the lab immediately after collection. Samples can be delivered Monday-Thursday 7:00-4:30 & Friday 7:00-2:00 without an appointment. If you need to drop off samples outside of those hours, please call the lab to schedule.

Total Coliform and E. coli

The Presence/Absence (P/A) test is recommended for drinking water, as there should be no coliform present.

The Most Probable Number (MPN) test is recommended in situations where the number of colony forming units is required – for example, when testing ponds or pools for recreational swimming.

All analyses are conducted in accordance with MassDEP certification standards for potable water and/or non-potable water, provided MassDEP certification is available for that parameter.
