Building on over 30 years of experience, Northeast Environmental Laboratory, Inc. provides a wide range of environmental services, including chemical and microbiological analyses, sampling, consulting, engineering, and regulatory compliance monitoring. We are seeking a committed and dependable person to join our team. 

This is a full-time position. Approximately two hours of weekend work per month may be required.

Some of your responsibilities would include: 

  • Quantifying inorganic compounds (metals, nutrients, etc.)
  • Performing wet chemistry and microbiological analyses
  • Generating and reviewing analytical reports
  • Providing customer service via phone, email, and in person
  • Receiving, logging in, and managing samples
  • Reviewing laboratory chains of custody for accuracy
  • Entering and reviewing data
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, well-organized working environment

All candidates for this position must have:

  • A good memory and a keen attention to detail
  • An ability to multitask
  • Solid laboratory skills and prior experience with chemical analyses
  • A record of commitment and dependability
  • A flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated personality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and the ability and desire to work in a team
  • The ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
  • A strong command of the English language, both spoken and written
  • Strong computer skills, preferably Apple/Macs

Preferred candidates will have: 

  • Five years experience working in a professional laboratory
  • Experience with wet chemistry procedures (biochemical oxygen demand, pH, alkalinity, and conductivity)
  • Experience with customer service
  • Experience working for small businesses 
  • Comfort with and motivation to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment

Education and Qualifications:

Some of your responsibilities would include: 

  • Representing the company on client site visits
  • Collecting samples using ISCO flow meters and samplers
  • Ensuring proper sample handling and preservation
  • Conducting field pH measurements
  • Completing Chain of Custody documents
  • Occasional night and weekend work (approximately 2-4 hours per month)

Territory Information

We are located on the North Shore in Danvers, MA. Candidates must live within 20 minutes of our location to perform some of the duties of this position.

You will drive to client sites predominantly in Eastern Massachusetts.

All candidates for this position must have:

  • A strong record of commitment and dependability
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to think on the spot to solve unexpected problems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to physically perform the duties of this position, including lifting at least 50 lbs, fitting into small or cramped spaces, kneeling, crouching, working outdoors, etc. when required
  • A flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated personality
  • A strong command of the English language, both spoken and written

Preferred candidates for this position will have: 

  • Experience with wastewater sampling or environmental monitoring
  • Demonstrated mechanical, troubleshooting, diagnostic aptitude
  • Experience working for small businesses
  • Familiarity with industrial and chemical safety practices
  • Strong computer skills

Education and Qualifications: 

  • At least 4 years of professional experience (a maximum of 1 year of academic or internship experience may be applied to the 4 year requirement)
  • College degree or trade school certification preferred 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
