NEL Analytical Staff

The analytical staff at NEL have been with the company for many years, have extensive expertise in environmental chemistry, and they know our clients well.

John Lovatt : Owner / Laboratory Director / Analyst

B. S. Food Science, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA

With a background in food manufacturing, product development, seafood inspection, water analysis, and food chemistry, and solid experience in quality control, John founded NEL to focus on environmental services.

A certified Grade 3 Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator, John is a hands-on owner, he serves as laboratory director and database administrator. He helps out as an analyst, and works as a field technician where he can keep in touch with clients. He oversees QA/QC and final report sign-off, and he’s the chief bottle washer.

Zinaida Shvorin : Laboratory Supervisor / Analyst

M. S. Research Chemistry, Gorky State University, Gorky, USSR

Zina came to NEL in 1991 with extensive experience as an analytical chemist and process engineer in electrochemical processes, and as a manager of an analytical chemistry laboratory. Zina is an analytical and instrumentation chemist at NEL.

Toni Dixon : Laboratory Manager / Analyst / Sample Custodian

B. S. Biology, Suffolk University, Boston, MA Quality Assurance Certificate, University of Massachusetts, Lowell, MA

Toni also came to us in 1991 as a recent college graduate with four years experience as assistant in a biology laboratory. At NEL she began her career as an analytical and instrumentation chemist. Toni is laboratory manager at NEL.

Toni oversees the daily operations at the lab to ensure that good
laboratory practices are being met and that the “fun level” is high for
a happy and healthy staff. Keeping customers happy is a top priority for her so she works hard to meet project goals and provide friendly and
timely service.
